The story of Diamant Gems is first and foremost the story of the passion of its founder, Nicolas de Saint Yvi, for rough diamonds.

“It all started for me 20 years ago. After studying gemology, I went to Africa because I wanted to learn firsthand. I wanted to meet the stones and see them in their natural light.”

So it was on African soil that Nicolas de Saint yvi was able to deepen his knowledge. “Learning my craft, in fact,” he readily admits. He learned his trade from local specialists. With them he learns about the different people involved and the different sectors. He also develops a relationship of trust that allows him to get the best diamonds in the rough. But not at any price,” he explains, “I’ve always been driven by a desire to buy ethically, which I think has contributed to his reputation.”

After formative years spent traveling around the African continent, Nicolas de Saint Yvi opened Diamant Gems’ offices at the Diamond Bourse in Antwerp and Place Vendôme in Paris. “His goal has always been to be as close as possible to diamonds, their specialists, artisans, and so on.
